Our lawyers provide professional legal advice, document review and preparation, negotiations, mediation and representation before the courts to improve the legal status of the men, women and families we serve. The William Booth Legal Aid Clinic serves the legal needs of people living under or under national poverty guidelines in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. The clinic exists to solve legal problems and provide quality legal services to people in need free of charge. The clinic serves individuals, families, U.S. veterans in need and educates clients about their legal rights and duties while trying to eliminate legal issues as obstacles that can prevent them from reaching their full potential. Lakeshore Legal Aid provides free civil legal aid to low-income individuals and seniors in Arenac, Bay, Clare, Genesee, Gladwin, Gratiot, Huron, Isabella, Lapeer, Macomb, Midland, Oakland, Saginaw, Sanilac, St. Clair, Tuscola and Wayne counties. Lakeshore Legal Aid is a not-for-profit law firm that provides free civil law services to low-income individuals and seniors. Lakeshore lawyers provide legal advice, document review and preparation, negotiation, mediation, court representation, legal education presentations for community groups, and referrals to other available community resources. Lakeshore cannot provide criminal legal aid, and services may be limited by the number of lawyers and other resources available. Lakeshore Legal Aid is seeking a pro bono lawyer to act as the primary point of contact for private lawyers and others who provide legal services to low-income individuals, support the pro bono work of private lawyers, and provide direct legal representation to individual clients and low-income client groups. This role will spend approximately 80% of their time on pro bono efforts and 20% of their time on processing files. The incumbent reports directly to the Director Pro Bono with respect to his/her pro bono responsibilities and to the Litigation Supervisor of his/her office with respect to the processing of files.
